01Who you're buying from
This is a private sale by (), selling genuine new old stock on behalf of its maker, the retired jeweller behind A & R Murray. It is not a relaunch of, and is not trading as, the dissolved company A & R Murray Limited (SC199532), which ceased trading in 2012. Contact: email.
02The pieces
Every item is a genuine, unworn piece described honestly from the workshop's own stock records — metal, hallmark, weight and stone detail. Precious-metal items are hallmarked. Each piece is one of a kind or one of a very few; once sold, it's gone. Photographs are representative, and natural stones (opal, pearl, coloured diamonds) vary in the hand — if exact appearance matters to you, ask for extra photos or arrange to view before buying.
03Prices & making an offer
The price shown on each piece is the asking price. Sensible offers are welcome on any item. A price is only fixed once it's agreed in writing (by email) between us — an offer isn't binding until accepted, and acceptance holds only the specific piece discussed.
04Reserving a piece
Ask and I'll reserve a piece for you for days while you arrange payment or verification. If cleared payment isn't received within that window, the reservation lapses and the piece goes back up for sale. Reserving costs nothing and isn't a commitment to buy.
05More detail & independent verification
Because these are individual pieces, I'm glad to send additional photographs, exact measurements, or hallmark close-ups on request. For higher-value pieces I can arrange independent verification or valuation before you commit, and viewing or collection in person can be arranged. Ask — it's expected.
06Payment
Payment is by secure card or bank transfer. Cleared funds are required before a piece is despatched. For higher-value pieces I may ask for bank transfer rather than card — it's the safer route for both of us. I'll only ever give bank details from the verified contact address above; if anything about a payment request looks off, stop and check with me directly.
07Non-payment
An accepted offer or reservation that isn't paid within days lapses automatically, and the piece is re-listed without further notice. No hard feelings — timing just doesn't always line up.
08Delivery
Pieces are sent fully insured, tracked and signed-for, discreetly packaged, currently via . Delivery cost depends on the piece's value and insured amount, so it's quoted to you before you pay — you're welcome to obtain your own estimate from the carrier if you'd prefer. Risk passes on signed delivery. UK mainland is standard; international despatch is by prior arrangement. A fuller delivery page with current costs will follow.
09Returns & cancellation
If you're buying at a distance you may cancel within days of receiving a piece. Tell me by email, then return it within 14 days, insured and tracked, in its original condition and complete — including any security tag or seal intact and attached. Once it's back and inspected, I'll refund you. A refund may be reduced to reflect any loss in value from handling beyond simply examining the piece.
Every piece is photographed, weighed and recorded before despatch. A returned item is checked against that record. A piece returned altered, damaged, resized, or with any stone removed or substituted is not a valid return, will not be refunded, and will be treated as a matter for recovery through the courts and, where appropriate, the police.
Bespoke, engraved-to-order or specially altered items are excluded from the cancellation right, as the law allows.
10Resizing & alterations
Rings are sold in the size listed. I don't resize or alter pieces — but almost any high-street jeweller can size a ring up or down for you, usually quickly and affordably. Note that having a piece resized or altered means it can no longer be returned under section 09.
11Condition & authenticity
Pieces are described as accurately as I can from the maker's records and hallmarks, and I'd rather under-promise than over-sell. If you receive something and believe it doesn't match its description, tell me within days of delivery and we'll put it right.
12Your privacy
I collect only what's needed to answer you and fulfil an order (name, contact details, delivery address). It's never sold or shared beyond what's needed to deliver your piece, and it's kept no longer than necessary. Ask any time to see or delete what I hold.
13If something goes wrong
